英語の長文問題で、「平均して24年の余命を喫煙によって失う」という部分を読み取って、”How much is life shortened for people who die in middle age from smoking?”という質問に答えるものがありました。
答えは、”(It is shortened by an average of) 24 years.”なので、どうして、”How long is life shortened for people who die in middle age from smoking?”と尋ねないのかなあと思ってました。
で、ふと、「あ、そうか。問題を難しくしてるだけなんだ。longできいたら、時間、日にち、年数ってわかっちゃうから、muchにして、値段かな？量かな？質かな？とも思わせて、問題を難しくしてるんだな。」と思ってしまったんですけど。
考えすぎ？
